If you love motor racing, especially endurance racing, Hurley Haywood needs no introduction. The Chicago-born race car driver had a career that would make him the hero of any aspiring racer, including five wins at the 24 Hours of Daytona, two overall wins at the 12 Hours of Sebring, and three victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. With a white dial and just a splash of red text, this 16523 Daytona is from the Zenith era and was presented to Hurley after he (along with drivers Frank Jelinski, Henri Pescarolo, Bob Wollek, and John Winter) took home first place in the race in a Joest Racing Porsche 962C.

Despite 1991 being the fifth time that Hurley had won overall at Daytona (wow), this was the first time that a Rolex Daytona was part of the prize. At the time, the winner’s UK 1:1 Rolex fake watches was usually a steel example, but given Hurley’s history, Rolex dialed it up and went with the two-tone option.

The well worn caseback reads “Rolex 1991 24 Hours of Daytona Award.” It does not get much better than that.

Here we have the most recent addition to Hurley’s collection, a modern “Pepsi” GMT-Master 126710BLRO. When we recorded this episode of Talking Watches, Hurley had owned this watch for about two days, as it was presented to him by during the 24 hours of Daytona this past January.
